Sanae Takaichi has been confirmed as the new president ♡✨

On October 4th, we conducted the vote counting for the party member ballot submitted to the Tokyo Metropolitan Federation. 🗳️✨

Having been involved in many elections before, this was my first time actually holding a ballot with names written on it.

The handwriting varied greatly, and some ballots were invalidated because voters added titles like “Mr.,” “Sir,” or “Master.” Yet every single one contained respect for the candidates and a heartfelt desire to entrust them with the future of this country.

It made me keenly aware once again of the weight of each vote.

At the same time, I felt a renewed surge of gratitude for the trust placed in my own election—whether written as “Ayumi Ito,” “Ayumi Ito,” “Ito,” “Ayumi,” or “Ayumi”—and my resolve strengthened for the re-election next February.

Over these four years, I have nothing to be ashamed of, but not everything was perfect.

Especially since the House of Councillors election,

I sometimes ask myself:

“Have I truly protected those who protect human lives?”

The newly elected President Sanae Takaichi has clearly stated that the nation’s ultimate mission is to steadfastly protect “the lives and property of the people,” “territory, territorial waters, airspace, and resources,” and furthermore, “national sovereignty and honor.”

I believe she will advance policies with deep respect for those who dedicate themselves to protecting the nation and its people, including the Self-Defense Forces, while prioritizing the strengthening of security and economic security as key pillars.

The national government, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and our city will collaborate wholeheartedly to ensure the new President’s vision is reflected in Hino City’s policies.

Politics that protects those who protect lives

I express my heartfelt gratitude and respect to all those in professions that support life and livelihoods, including the Self-Defense Forces, police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, teachers, caregivers, childcare workers, and administrative staff.

I believe that by supporting those engaged in these “life-saving professions” and solidifying the foundation of administration, we can build a truly safe and secure life.

Alongside my policy goal of “creating communities that provide opportunities to confront one’s own health and plan for life,”

I will continue my legislative work guided by the conviction of “politics that protects those who protect lives.”
