The 63rd General Meeting and Promotion Conference of the Tokyo River Improvement Promotion Parliamentary League

On August 7th, I attended the 63rd General Meeting and Promotion Conference of the Tokyo River Improvement Promotion Parliamentary League.

The Tokyo River Improvement Promotion Federation is a federation of local governments established to prevent disasters caused by river flooding and overflow within Tokyo and to enhance the welfare of residents.

It plays a role in promoting requests and cooperation with the national government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to achieve early realization of improvement projects. Currently, 38 local governments participate: 14 wards, 21 cities, 2 towns, and 1 village.

In recent years, major water-related disasters such as large typhoons, linear precipitation zones, and torrential downpours causing significant damage have increased. Therefore, implementing robust flood control measures is crucial as a countermeasure.

To build a safe, enriching, and abundant living environment, we will continue to appeal to the national government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

At the promotion conference, Council Chairman Masahito Okuzumi of Hino City Council represented the block and delivered remarks.

The Hino City Council will work together as one to implement disaster prevention measures for rivers.
