Liberal Democratic Party Participation of the National Association of Women Legislators’ Policy Research NO.4

How do you plan to realize your policies?”

After presenting our policies in a group work session, Kentaro Asahi, a member of the House of Councilors, posed this question to us.

Everyone talked about their respective policies and at the end, they conveyed their requests to the government.

I wanted to raise my hand and speak up too, but I’m really shy. You can’t see it.

So I’m going to send it out here.

I value “kizuna” (bonds).

This is my answer.

The good thing about the LDP, the ruling party, is that the city, metropolitan, and national governments are connected.

Unfortunately, Hino City is currently without a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly and a member of the Diet, but even so, we have been able to lead the city to realize what we need to move forward with the help of councilors from other areas.

During my first year as a councilor, the HPV vaccine (cervical cancer vaccine) was resumed.

I have always believed that vaccination should be decided by family members after discussing the merits and demerits of the vaccination and the constitution of the person who is to be vaccinated.

For this reason, in my first general question as a Diet member, I asked the following questions

(1) Establish a consultation system

(2) Attach to the notification an easy-to-understand explanation of the advantages and disadvantages of HPV vaccination.

I have strongly urged the city government to address these issues.

Still, I receive a variety of opinions about the HPV vaccine. However, I do not deny them, and I am grateful for them.

I am grateful for them, because they give the younger generation a chance to face their own bodies and think about which choice is best for them.

However, in a sense, this is left to others, and as a member of the ruling party that recommends the HPV vaccine, I thought about what I could do to help.

As a result, we decided to set up a cooperative medical institution in Mita to provide support for those who are anxious about the HPV vaccine but want to choose to be vaccinated.

First, we spoke with Dr. Hanako Jimi, a member of the House of Councilors, who is a doctor and recommended by the Japan Medical Association.

Then, upon learning that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government had jurisdiction over the project, we conveyed this idea to Shoko Ito, a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly elected from the neighboring city of Hachioji. Ito agreed, and after repeated negotiations with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, we were able to establish a cooperating medical institution in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Tokyo Metropolitan Children’s Medical Center in October.

It was just around the time of the House of Councillors election three years ago, and I fondly remember running around to find as many councilors as possible who would support our activities and to deepen our ties with each level of councilor, both to support them and to achieve our goals.

It is a long story, but I believe that by nurturing the bonds of comradeship that we have formed through our daily activities, we may be able to realize our policies.

That’s naive, you think.

Some may think so.

I myself have developed some bonds during my time as an LDP Uguis, and being a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Federation, I am blessed with the opportunity to meet with many members of various levels of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, so the answer may not be the same for everyone.

However, at any given time, it is the connections between people that create a city and build a new history.

With pride in belonging to the Liberal Democratic Party, which has many comrades throughout Japan who are earnest and honest in their dealings with politics, I will continue to exchange opinions and foster ties with council members of all levels and strive to be a council member who can give back to Hino City.

The National Women’s Caucus Policy Study Group is a very valuable opportunity to find and nurture these important “bonds”.

To the staff of the LDP Women’s Bureau, thank you so much for the two days 😊

We look forward to working with you again next year🌷✨.

To be able to participate again next year,

I will work hard for the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly election to strengthen the bond of Hino City,

the House of Councilors election to deepen the bond of the entire party, and the Hino City Assembly election in February. 🕊️✨✨
