Inspection of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Tokyo Band

On December 11th, I visited the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Tokyo Band with members of the Tokyo Suikokai.
After the Japan Coast Guard established its music corps in 1951, following various developments, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Band was newly formed in 1956.
Then, this past February, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Band relocated to the Higashi-Tachikawa Garrison, making this visit possible. 🚢✨✨
It was such a delight to see the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force uniforms in Tachikawa!

After touring the facility, I observed the concert rehearsal and had the opportunity to speak with Captain Ueda of the music corps.

Last year in Hino City, the Defense Association hosted a concert by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Central Band. Next time, we hope to invite the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force as well. 🌞
Alongside this, we would like them to provide music instruction at junior high schools in Hino City. We hope this will help children in Hino, who have few opportunities to interact with Self-Defense Force members, feel more familiar with the Self-Defense Forces.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our senior from Showa University of Music, who retired from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Band, for his tremendous efforts in arranging this visit.🎵
We also sincerely thank all members of the Tokyo Suikokai, as well as the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Tokyo Band for graciously allowing us to conduct this inspection.
