Feeding the Hungry Ghosts

On June 29th, a ceremony for the hungry ghosts was held at the family temple.

Every year, we have listened to the revered lectures of the monks, but since last year, concerts by Reverend Kodama Kōryū, an opera singer and priest of the Shingon Chisan sect, have been held.

With prayer as the theme, you resonated with a magnificent baritone.

Watching you sing Ave Maria, I found myself wondering to whom you were offering your prayers at that moment.

I too graduated from the vocal music department at Showa University of Music, and when we sang Italian songs, we prayed to Christ, while singing Japanese songs meant praying to Kami or Buddha… Is that how it is?

It was a moment to remember our ancestors with a rich heart.

We will continue our activities, aiming for a Hino City where art and culture flourish.
