Tatsumi City Community Bus Inspection🚌

On May 16, we visited Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, to observe the Environmental Town Planning Committee.

[Purpose of the visit]

Due to a significant shortage of drivers, bus services in Hino City have been reduced or discontinued.

We conducted this visit with a view to introducing autonomous buses in order to respond to the concerns of many citizens, particularly the elderly.

The low-speed electric community bus MAYU was launched in 2010 as an “environmentally and people-friendly bus” that can safely travel at a maximum speed of 19 kilometers per hour, and it runs on a sightseeing tour route.

I actually rode on the bus.

Compared to Hino City, the roads are wider and there is less traffic, so I felt safe and did not feel any danger during the ride.

There are various issues to be addressed, such as the difference in traffic volume between rural areas and the city.

However, since demonstration experiments are also being conducted in the city, we will continue to discuss the implementation of this project at the committee meeting, while referring to the efforts of neighboring cities.

Thank you very much to everyone in Kiryu City for the valuable experience and wonderful hospitality.
