Inspection of the training ship Kashima

June 3: We visited the training ship Kashima.

We departed from Yokosuka Base and boarded the ship for a trial run to Tokyo International Cruise Terminal.

Starting with the raising of the national flag, we were able to observe the dignified and agile movements of the Self-Defense Forces personnel until the fleet set sail.

After leaving port, we were given a tour of the captain’s cabin, VIP room, and cadets’ living quarters, and had the opportunity to talk with the families of the officer candidates (cadets) in the dining room.

We would like to express our sincere respect and gratitude to the families who support their sons, daughters, husbands, wives, and grandchildren who have chosen to become self-defense officers.

We set sail on June 13, and it has been two months since training began.

Although I was unable to see you off due to official duties, I prayed for the safety of all of you who will become future Self-Defense Force officers and bowed my head at the Kasima Shrine altar on board the ship.

I would like to express my sincere respect to the members of the Self-Defense Forces who protect the nation and its people. As a member of the Diet, I will continue to work to be a politician who can protect those who protect the lives of the people.

I sincerely pray for your safe return.
