Culture Day

November 3rd was Culture Day. Did everyone get to experience some art and culture that resonated with them? 😊

As you all know, I graduated from the Vocal Music Department of Showa University of Music. At university, I mainly studied Italian art songs and Italian opera. In the advanced program, I continued my vocal studies, which also included Japanese art songs and German Lieder.

For me, music itself is artistic culture. During this four-year term, Hino City—a place steeped in the artistic culture it takes pride in—held its first-ever soloist audition. Furthermore, for the city’s 60th anniversary, a concert featuring young musicians from Hino City (or with ties to it) was held based on my proposal.

I will not rest on these achievements. Moving forward, I will strive to establish an appropriate support system that meets the needs of the times and to foster an environment where the arts flourish in Hino City.

Furthermore, during the December 2023 City Council session, under the theme “To Protect Citizens’ Cultural Rights,” I proposed measures to safeguard not only music but cultural arts across all fields. These included formulating a “(Provisional Title) Basic Ordinance for the Promotion of Cultural Arts” or a “(Provisional Title) Plan for the Promotion of Cultural Arts,” improving facilities like the Civic Hall for community gatherings, and installing air conditioning at the Shinsengumi Hometown History Museum to preserve Hino’s history and traditions. Many of these proposals have now been realized.

We have received assurances that work on the Basic Ordinance and Plan will commence in fiscal year 2026.

Cultural arts encompass a wide range of fields, from classical music to flower arrangement and tea ceremony.

We will work together with everyone living in the present to create an ordinance that evolves to meet the needs of those living in this era, uniting the aspirations of all those involved in these fields.

We sincerely welcome your opinions and would be grateful for your continued support.
